Originally an architecture student, Jaiden came to Parsons School of Design→ to redefine what it meant to exist in physical space. Throughout his second year, as he began integrating technology into his work, communicating through digital and physical spaces simultaneously became his new obsession.
After joining Design & Technology→, Jaiden realized the importance of creating digital interfaces that make our lives easier while still allowing us to maintain our sense of agency. The idea of creating work that makes us examine ourselves and our world in the present moment. How can we take the monotony out of our everyday interactions? Why do non-sentient objects make us feel things? Where can we make space for community in our lives? What can the concept of play teach us about ourselves and our relationships? These are some of the questions that his work hopes to answer. Jaiden brought his ideas forward into a summer internship at The Orlando Economic Partnership→.
Outside of design, you can find him on the soccer pitch. He also enjoys drawing→ and reading→.
BACKGROUND
Jaiden left Antigua in 2019 with ambitions of attending university to study architecture. He enrolled in a boarding school in western Massachusetts before spending a year at Sarah Lawrence College, where he studied art and architecture history, physics, and photography, and played Division 3 soccer.
At this point, Jaiden took time to practice illustration, creating a series of fine-line drawings based in the genres of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Many of these works were arranged in a digital portfolio, which was submitted to Parsons for transfer admission into the undergraduate architecture program.
After transferring to Parsons, Jaiden began his journey through architecture, learning less about architecture and more about space, composition, and the importance of detail-oriented work. He carried these concepts forward into Design & Technology, where he flourished both intellectually and creatively.
